YouBet Seeks to Expand to Europe - 08-05-09 |
August 5 - The President and Chief Executive Officer of the US based gambling group, YouBet, David Goldberg said that his company is seeking to expand outside the United States in a bid to tap into the ever growing online gambling market in Europe.
Golderg said that YouBet was seeking "European partner or partners with significant presence, whether that be in marketing in media."
The company has not ruled out any type of gambling activity and would also include casino, poker and other forms of gaming if the right partner was found.
Goldberg said that the group's top priority was finding a partner with an impeccable reputation, with no history of trouble with local authorities. "In this space there have been plenty of people who have dabbled in online gambling," he said, "sometimes in the face of regulators, but we want someone who is squeaky clean."
Youbet hopes to concentrate on markets in Europe that are still emerging and less on those that have fully developed. "The legislative landscape in Europe is shifting," noted Goldberg, "but those markets that look most likely to offer regulated, liberalized online gambling first will be the focus."
Goldberg said in an interview that YouBet is seeking partners with the ability to attract customers since the marketing climate in Europe was "very aggressive and competitive."
The President would not confirm the names of any interested parties in a joint venture at this point, but said that it did have a 'hit list' and that there had been some inquiries from outside groups.
