Sisal Lands Lucrative National Gaming Tender - 07-10-09 |
July 10 - Sisal S.p.A, one of Italy's largest online and offline gaming groups, has signed an agreement with the country's Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato AAMS regulatory authority to obtain a license that will allow it operate national pari-mutuel games in Italy.
The nine year licensing agreement evolves out of an international tender that was issued in order to attract some of the top gaming countries in Italy.
Sisal was successful in its bid and began the administration of all national pari mutuel games, including the SuperEnalotto game, as of last week.
The Managing Director of the Sisal Group, Emilio Petrone, said: "The new agreement is a great result for Sisal and one made possible by the commitment of the whole of our organization. This goal has been attained after winning an international tender in which the leading companies in the sector took part."
Sisal grossed over EUR 2.5 billion from SuperEnalotto revenues alone last year - nearly 30% more that the year before.
The company hopes to launch new games as a result of clinching the lucrative deal.
"This is evidence of the recognition of the transparency of the Italian gaming sector and the value of our company," said Petrone. "The license follows on from the excellent achievements in 2008 and in the first few months of 2009, consolidating the prospects for our development."
