New MD For Mecca Bingo - 06-30-09 |
 June 30 - The Rank Group, one of the UK's leading gambling groups - with an online and offline presence in the UK bingo market - announced the appointment of a new Managing Director for Mecca Bingo.
According to the Rank Group, Mark Jones will replace Simon Wykes as MD of Mecca Bingo. Wykes departed the company last month and Rank has been seeking a replacement ever since.
The new role is a challenging one for Jones who will, among other things, be responsible for the operational management of over 100 Mecca Bingo clubs across the width and breadth of the United Kingdom.
"Mecca Bingo has faced a number of challenges in recent years but, having stabilized performance, we are now seeking to move forward, broadening our customer reach through product and service innovation," said the Chief Executive Officer of Rank Group, Ian Burke.
Burke mentioned Jones' experience in the commercial and leisure world for a significant number of years and said that it would assist the company in the long run.
"Mark's extensive experience in the leisure retail sector will be invaluable to us as he leads Mecca Bingo into this new phase of its development," he noted.
Jones has worked in a number of top management positions throughout his life, including as the Chief Executive of the Yates Groups, the Chief Executive Officer of Pizza Hut, UK and as chairman of Premium Bars and Restaurant in the UK.
