Malta to Host Online Gambling Conference - 02-25-08 |
February 25 - From May 20th to 22nd this year, the online gambling
industry's largest and most respected annual conferencing event, GIGSE (Global
Interactive Gaming Summit for Executives), will celebrate its 10th birthday as
well as
undergo a number of radical changes.
For instance, this year the event will be by 'invitation only' and be called the
Global Interactive Gaming Summit for Executives as opposed to GIGSE. In
addition, the conference will be hosted for the first time in the Mediterranean island
and online gambling-friendly jurisdiction of Malta.
In light of recent developments in the field of online gambling, GIGSE has been
forced to evolve. These developments include the introduction of the Unlawful Internet
Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in the US at the end of 2006, which
effectively banned gambling online in the United States.
Another reason for GIGSE's new 'look, feel and format' is that it has been
re-designed to represent a select melting pot of online gambling company
executives, government leaders, academics and business visionaries. The industry
can only benefit through their discussions and collaborations.
Invitations to the Global Interactive Gaming Summit for Executives will be sent
to online gambling operation founder members, CEOs, MDs, Board Members, and in
some cases other C-Level executives including CFO's, CTO's and CMOs.
