Less eCOGRA Online Casino Player Disputes - 09-07-08

Fortune Affiliates

September 7 - The eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation Assurance (eCOGRA) has released figures for the first half of 2008 to show that there has been a 19% drop in the number of valid player disputes at eCOGRA accredited online casinos and poker rooms.

A total of 346 complaints had been received by eCOGRA overall, although only 260 had been investigated. The par was explained by the fact that 36 submissions were thrown out because of lack of evidence, abuse or similar reasons. Another 50 had been rejected because they involved complaints against online casino sites or poker rooms that were not eCOGRA accredited.

Tex Rees, who serves as the Fair Gaming Advocate for eCOGRA explained the statistics in more detail. "The most common dispute regarded cash ins with 120 disputes which was 46% of the total valid complaints filed," he said. "Slower e-processing conditions in the industry may have been a contributing factor in this regard."

Rees was referring to the trouble that certain online poker rooms have been experiencing recently with third party payment processors whose services have been hampered by ongoing investigations by US authorities.

"Bonus issues were reported in 58 cases," continued Rees, "and issues surrounding account lockouts made up 17% or 44 disputes. In these cases, a number of player fraud incidents were uncovered. The rest of the complaints were miscellaneous and mainly of a minor nature in which misunderstandings and miscommunications were noticeable features."

"Overall, the disputes scene has again been quiet relative to the considerable level of business generated over the half year by eCOGRA's 131 venues regularly reviewed. The average number of valid disputes assessed per approved website per month dropped to 0.40," he concluded.

Rees also noted that 49% of queries were resolved in favor of players.

The Fortune Lounge group recently received eCOGRA accreditation. Fortune Room Casino is a partner casino of Fortune Affiliates, so be sure to read our review of this fine website.
