EU License for Top Bingo Operation - 01-26-09

January 26 - Bingo.com, one of the world's largest online bingo operations, has finally secured itself a foot into the regulated European gaming market, following its application to Malta.

It was learned that this week the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority issued Bingo.com with a letter of intent, that will essentially allow the group to offer a remote gaming site from the country's jurisdiction.

The letter of intent is subject to Bingo.com meeting a number of criteria which are outlined by the tough Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority, however, the company has already stated that most of these requirements have already been met and the remaining few will be followed up in the next several weeks.

In 2006, the giant Bingo.com was pushed from the United States' gaming market, following the introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Since then, the company has been struggling to regain its place as one of the leading bingo companies in the world, with a focus on entering the European market on a legal ticket.

"We are very pleased to have received a Letter of Intent from the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority," said the Chief Executive Officer of Bingo.com, Tarnie Williams. "Online bingo is booming in the United Kingdom and we are excited to have the opportunity to strengthen our position as one of the premier online bingo destinations for European players."

It is believed that the letter of intent will assist Bingo.com dramatically. "Bingo.com will now have a full breadth of marketing opportunities available from which to promote our brand and attract new visitors to our gaming and entertainment system," said Williams. "While we continue to develop support for different currencies and different languages around the world, the UK is a critical market for our success."
