Chartwell Technology Gains Foothold in German Market - 04-14-08 |
April 14 - A five year contract has been signed between the gaming software
provider, Chartwell Technology and Spielbanken Niedersachsen GmbH, a
company owned by Casinos Austria International. The agreement calls for
Chartwell Technology to supply Spielbanken with games and software for a new
site that is being planned for next month.
Spielbanken Niedersachsen GmbH recently won a controversial court case in
Germany over its right to offer online casino services to the country's 8
million strong Lower Saxony state. The company already has a license to offer
the area land casino services - something that it has been doing for close to 20
years. Although its operating license specifically allows Spielbanken to offer
online games, local authorities blocked this permission and the company was
forced to take the issue to Germany's Higher Administrative Court, which ruled
in its favor.
This has been seen as a major victory for Spielbanken Niedersachsen Gmb - and
Chartwell Technology - in a country that only several months ago voted in
sweeping new anti online gambling laws.
Speaking about the new partnership between Spielbanken and his company, the
CEO of Chartwell, Darold H. Parken said: "We are delighted to provide our gaming
system for Spielbanken's launch into online gaming. We have gained an
exceptional industry partner with a well-established gaming business, helping to
ensure our future growth in the key regulated German market. It has always been
our strategy to align Chartwell with blue-chip licensed operators, and in
Spielbanken we have a perfect example."
The Chartwell Technology-powered flash casino will be launched next month
under the Casinoland.de brand and will offer an attractive range of products for
players. Spielbanken's CEO promises the highest standards of security, which are
required by law
