BWin To Offer Payment Services - 04-27-08 |
April 27 - The successful online gambling company, BWin, has
announced that it intending to use its newly acquired license from the United
Kingdom's Financial Services Authority to offer its planned e-wallet to at least
thirty other countries around the world.
The license was awarded to BWin after a strict application's process and
essentially entitles the Austrian-based company to act as an e-money provider.
This makes BWin the first gaming company in the industry to receive such status.
The license, awarded last month, is currently undergoing a process whereby it
will be recognized in a large number of other European countries.
"The move into financial services represents a new revenue stream for us and
it is a first in our industry, a fact we are very proud of," said a press
officer for BWin, Kevin O'Neal. "The plan is to launch the product in the UK
where the FSA is based. From there, we will roll out internationally, beginning
with the thirty countries that cooperate with the FSA."
BWin will employ the services of its wholly owned subsidiary, Vincento
Payment Solutions, to open up a stream of additional revenue for itself, by
marketing online payment solutions to its own customers. The service will also
be made available to other merchants.
The license allows BWin to partner with big names in the financial market,
such as Visa and Mastercard, and offer its own brand name credit card and
prepaid card.
BWin is considered Europe's biggest gaming and entertainment site and offers
up to 10,000 sports bets daily on more than 90 sports. In addition, the site
offers poker, casino and skill games, making it a truly diverse product.
