Bodog Seeking UK Online Gambling License - 02-08-08 |
February 8 - Online gambling powerhouse, Bodog, is applying for a UK online
gambling license in the midst of allegations that is contravening United States
law by allowing US players to access and gamble on is many websites.
When asked about these so-called 'US criminal activities', Bodog founder and CEO
Calvin Ayre, rejected said allegations by saying, 'While we accept wagers from
US-based players, Bodog does not operate in the United States.'
In a move that seemed to echo the flamboyant nature of its founder, Bodog is one
of the few online gambling operations that continued to accept US players after
Congress introduced the Unlawful Internet Gambling and Enforcement Act (UIGEA)
in October 2006.
The passing of UIGEA into law effectively banned online gambling in the United
States, as it made it illegal for US banks, credit card companies and other
financial institutions from processing online gambling-related payments for US
citizens.
Now Bodog is looking to expand its operations further into Europe via the UK,
even though it already holds an online gambling license from Antigua which
allows it to target the lucrative European Internet gambling market.
However, while Bodog is eager to secure its own UK online gambling license, many
other larger online gambling operations are boycotting the UK online gambling
regime. This is dude to the hefty 15 percent remote gaming tax imposed on the
online gambling industry by the UK Treasury last year.
Visit
Bodog now, and open yourself up to a world of online casino, online poker,
and online sports betting pleasure.
