Alderney Unveils New Licensing Framework - 07-10-09 |
July 10 - Online gaming providers seeking to obtain a license issued by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) will be pleased to note that the group has unveiled a new licensing framework.
The reason for these changes comes after the AGCC examined the needs of its customers and found that things would work more effectively if licenses were tailored to the specific needs of each licensee.
"We conducted a detailed study of the industry and the regulatory landscape, both of which are changing very rapidly, and we felt it timely to take a fresh look at our licensing framework," said the Chief Executive of the AGCC, Andre Wisenach, speaking at the Gaming Executive Summit in Madrid, Spain.
As such, the needs of operators who conduct consumer facing operations are different from those who conduct business to business operations and the Commission will be better equipped to handle each individual licensing request through its new regulatory regime.
"There were several key developments which influenced our thinking: first the emergence of new regulations and licensing regimes in Europe and further afield - a trend we can only see increasing; secondly, the entry to market of media companies who are new players in the eGambling industry," said Wisenach.
The executive said that he was confident that the Commission has created a framework that fits in with the current developments in the industry, and he looks forward to working with operators and other regulators - with the key emphasis on protecting online gamblers.
