Agreement Leads to Turkish Sportbetting Transparency - 04-18-08 |
April 18 - A fair and regulated Turkish sports betting industry became
more of a reality this week, when it was announced that an information sharing
agreement was signed between three interested parties in the industry: The
Turkish Football Federation (TFF), Intelek, operators of the popular
sportsbetting game, Iddaa, and the state-owned gaming company, Spor Toto
Organization.
The agreement, signed between three representatives of the organizations in
Instanbul this week, will introduce fair wagering practices and higher ethics to
Turkish sportsbetting, it is hoped.
Under the deal, Intelek, a subsidiary of Intralot, will provide the Turkish
Football Federation with statistical data relating to the betting game, Iddaa.
The mechanism of the game require that all football games played in Turkey are
listed. Intelek will also provide information about other Sport Toto games where
relevant.
The Deputy General Manager of Communication for Intelek, Kerem Ertan, who
signed the deal in Istanbul with the Chairman of the Football Federation, Hasan
Dogan and Bekir Yunus Unjar, manager of Spor Toto Organization, said that
transparency in the Turkish sports betting industry was of the highest
importance.
The deal states that should any suspicious behavior be picked up by
Intelek through its risk management system and computerized system, the company
will immediately bring the results to the attention of the Turkish Football
Federation. The TFF then has the right to decide which further steps to take in
the matter, whether to investigate the matter or to take legal preventative
action.
