Super Bowl betting is already in full swing even though the game itself will only be played on February 7, with the meaningless Pro Bowl sandwiched in-between (take the AFC by the way, as they are the strongest conference in terms of player depth).

The line for Super Bowl XLIV, which is set by BetCRIS and then adopted by other sports books including those in Vegas opened at -3.5 points in favor of the Colts. That number was swallowed up quicker than a hamburger by Sally Struthers as wise guy sharps figured the Colts were value. We`re not so sure, but the number quickly shot past 4 and 4.5 and even 5 was taken. At the time of writing the Colts are favored by 5.5 points across the betting boards.

The Over/Under total points number is expected to be the highest seen in years for a Super Bowl, and that comes as no surprise when you figure these are two unstoppable offenses, and both defenses base their success on takeaways (which usually lead to points, and which also leaves them open to conceding big plays) rather than stopping the other team.

It should be a classic game and at the moment the Super Bowl betting value lies with the Saints, although pundits expect that the final number will settle somewhere around the 4.5 point mark.
