NFL Betting Set To Heat Up For Playoff Games |

January 2 - Every season NFL punters are heard to remark that there were so many upsets and surprise teams, and they bemoan the fact that pro football is so hard to handicap. NFL betting certainly is never easy but this year there really haven`t been too many surprise teams that have done unexpectedly well, and the teams who were predicted to stink have obliged in that department too.
Before the season started it was predicted that teams like the Lions, Rams, and Chiefs would struggle to win any games let alone compete for the postseason. They were joined by other vulnerable victims such as the Buccaneers, the Raiders, and the Browns. Some teams who might have been sleeper picks also failed to get going and here we think of teams like the Bills, the Redskins, the Seahawks, and the Titans who all went backwards this year.
But the betting favorites before the season started are still at the top of the Super Bowl betting boards as we head into the postseason. I`m talking about perennial overachievers like the Patriots, the Colts, the Chargers (who were a lock to win their division), the Cowboys, and last year`s Super Bowl runners-up the Cardinals (who were also a lock to win their division).
The NFL playoffs tend to be won by the teams that get hot at the right time, and not necessarily those that played the best during the regular season. One thinks of the Giants improbable run from 6th seed and wild-card hangers-on to Super Bowl champions, two seasons ago. So teams like the Colts and Saints, who were clearly dominant a month ago, will now have to look over their shoulders as other teams like the Chargers and Eagles respectively start to look very dangerous indeed.
We`ll go out on a limb here and say that the Super Bowl will be contested between the Chargers and the Eagles, and that San Diego wins it`s first title.
